Knock Basilica At Sunset, Knock, County Mayo, Ireland Two Days Before The 2018 Papal Visit.

Many catholics (myself included) believe Aug 21st, 1879, The Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph and St. John The Evangelist appeared to a group of fifteen parishioners here in Knock. The Catholic Church is extremely reluctant to recognise alleged events of this nature but a commission of inquiry found their testimonies to be credible. Since then it has been a place of pilgrimage and currently attracts over a million visitors annually. Pope John Paul visited in 1979 and on Aug 26, 2018, Pope Francis also visited with both attracting tens of thousands of people to welcome them.

The apparition occurred on the wall of the old church. The Basilica was built in 1979 for the centenary and has been extensively renovated.
